Lateral placement in stratigraphically variable reservoirs is a major industry challenge.  Subsiesmic stratigraphic thinning, high energy environments, and thin bed effects are all major challenges for a geosteering geologist.  NOW Geoconsultants has a wide breadth of experience dealing with these types of reservoirs.

This example shows a post drill reevaluation of a reservoir that exhibits characteristics of thinning from SHL to BHL.  After drilling out of zone it was revealed through offset wells that the reservoir was substantially thinner than expected.  After drilling NOW was asked to reevaluate this well.  Our work explained the thinning through the visualizations above.
